photo session

Here are some pictures of Alexa and Grant during their "photo session" for our family Christmas card. Do they look at all interested in cooperating?? No. Alexa was more focused on reading some Christmas books and Grant wanted to climb on furniture. I did end up getting one decent picture of them together. Mind you, it's decent but not great :o) Still, they're pretty cute to me!

reading

Recently, Alexa was sitting peacefully on the chair reading some books when Grant came along and joined her. There was no disruption or fighting - just a quiet session of reading together. It made my heart swell that, not only were they enjoying this time with each other but also because Grant wasn't eating the books!!!

Squirmy lives on!

Yes, Squirmy is still alive. I don't know how but that caterpillar has survived living in a jar at our house for many many weeks now. Alexa enjoys taking him out so Dad can replenish the leaves and grass. She has even become so brave as to let him crawl on her hand and arm - it totally grosses me out so I just gag behind her back and then encourage her to her face. How long will he live??? Stay tuned for a later update...

Halloween party 2009

Alexa (the dancer) Grant (Pooh Bear) Julia (Snow White) and Luke (Lightning McQueen)
Seriously, could they be any sweeter?? Yep - they can when they have sugar and candy all over their faces! We sure do LOVE our time with family!!!

shall we dance?

Aren't they cute? Recently, Alexa got to enjoy a "dance" party with her cousins, Maci and Mackie. I don't believe there's anything she loves more than "partying" with her cousins (all wonderful 5 of them!!!!)

pumpkins!

Here we are picking out pumpkins to take home. Grant was very helpful in pushing them around and Alexa did a wonderful job in choosing the "perfect" one for each of us ;o) Happy Fall!!

the climber

Check out this face of pure joy and satisfaction!! Grant has mastered climbing on to chairs and couches - so look out if we're coming to your home!! This feat has added a whole new level of excitement and exploration to his life. Agghhhh!!!

leaves!

We had a fun filled weekend of playing in leaves at Nana and Grandpa John's house. After a whole week of rain, the weather cleared up for a day so we could enjoy it - it was awesome!!

new pet

It seems as though the Berryman's have added another family member... Alexa and her dad found a fuzzy brown and black caterpillar (forgive me, I don't know the species name) outside on the back patio. Of course, both of them agreed that this "baby" caterpillar needed a nice, new, warm and dry home. Out comes the Mason jar and voila! "Squirmy" has a new home. All I know is that he'd better not "squirm" his way out of his cozy new digs - or he might have to move on to caterpillar heaven!

Good, good and SILLY!

I had this great idea to have my picture taken with my sweet, darling children. Clint was the photographer and encouraging Grant and Alexa to smile. He kept saying "good job Alexa - you look so pretty!" So, I thought "this is going to be a nice picture!" Yay! It wasn't until much later that I realized that this is the face that she was making the whole time!! Tricksters!!! I still think she's a doll ;o)

Black and Gold

Here are my two favorite men wearing their Hawkeye colors proudly! I couldn't pass up this picture with matching shirts. Aren't they cute??

Take a picture of the princess.

After taking a picture of Grant in his new hat and mittens, Alexa said "okay, now take a picture of the princess!" Who can argue with that? So, here is the picture of our princess (also enjoying her new hat and mittens - Aunt Meghan helped pick them out so they're extra special ;o) Don't worry, Alexa is wearing her Hawkeye t-shirt underneath the sweatshirt!

Hawk's Day

Go Hawkeyes!! Here's our big boy sportin' his Iowa gear. Ready to play outside, he was really enjoying his new hat and gloves for fall (he kept clapping his hands together and smiling ;o) Nothing like a Saturday at home with tons of college football to watch!!

happy boy

Grant is one of the happiest and easy-going kids I've met. He giggles and squeals with delight at anything he finds entertaining. Above, Grandpa is doing "raspberries" on Grant's neck - he kept coming back for more and could barely stand because he was laughing so hard!! Too cute.
Buckle up!! Dad kept pushing the accelerator, causing Grant to lurch forward (safe, I know...) Anyway, Grant just couldn't get over how hilarious it was - good thing he's still in diapers, I'm pretty sure he peed his pants with excitement! Ha!

birthday fun

We celebrated Maci Jo's 5th birthday this weekend. She is my sweet niece. Included in the group photo are (l-r): Jersey, Ezra, Mackie (also my niece), Grant, Lucia, Maci (birthday girl!), Alexa and Carter. Fun was had by all - especially Grant, who could not get enough of this motorized car!!! The baby pictured is Bree's newest addition, my beautiful niece, Cady Rose. She is a sweetheart!!

Labor Day Fun!

We took a trip to Bloomfield over Labor Day weekend. Grant fished from the boat for the first time (I use the term "fish" very loosely - he mostly wanted to get in the water...) We had tons of fun and, for the record, I caught the biggest fish of the weekend. We also took a short tour of some of Grandpa's tractors - which all of us enjoyed - and I actually drove the Kubota quite a bit.

cute girl

Here is a pic of my sweet girl, Alexa. I could seriously snuggle her all day long!!

caught it!

Can you see me???? Grant enjoys the bug catcher for reasons other than catching bugs!! You can also see the blue shovel in it too - it's his favorite toy these days (he even went to bed with it last night... later to be snatched up by mom ;o)

can you pass me the soap?

Grant's new "hobby" is washing his hands!! Actually, I'm pretty sure his goal is to get his clothes as wet as possible and make as many big splashes as he can - without getting caught!! He really thinks he's big when he uses Sister's step-stool. I think so too.

the golf ball

I'm not sure if this falls into a "talent" category... Grant is able to fit a whole golf ball into his mouth! He actually enjoys walking around the house like this. He can almost close his lips around it - Alexa is a little miffed because she can't get a golf ball past her teeth. Yea, I'm pretty sure this counts as a talent.

first day of preschool

Here is my "big" girl on her first day of preschool!!! It went very well - neither of us cried (though I was fighting off tears as I left the building.) She was so excited and brave, Clint and I couldn't have been more proud of her!!! She keeps reassuring me that no matter how big she gets, she'll always be my baby. I can live with that ;o)

Alexa's puppets

Here are five photos of Alexa with her puppets.  You can see that she had me take a picture featuring her and each individual "aminal."  Yes, that is spelled correctly for the way in which she pronounces the word ;o)  She's my sweet girl - love her!!!!

the black eye

Check out this tough guy!  Grant gave the headboard of our bed a good smack with his eye a couple of weeks ago.  He didn't need any stitches but it was a good one!!  Other than crying when it happened, the incident didn't faze him.  You don't want to meet this kid in a dark alley...

my guys

I just love this picture of Clint and Grant.  As you can see, Grant is "scurrying" towards me to get the camera while Clint watches.  They're both probably wondering who's going to be quicker: me or Grant!!??  The two men in my life: they couldn't be more handsome or special to me.

first haircuts

Both Grant and Alexa had their first haircuts this summer!!

ballerina

Alexa has started taking dance lessons! She attends class with other 2 and 3 year olds. It's titled "Ballet and Creative Movement" - she loves it!! Here are a couple of pictures of her demonstrating her "ballet" moves - very impressive, if you ask her parents!! :o) Oh, don't worry... we finally got her some tights and shoes that fit her!!

what a smiley boy :)

Here is our "big" boy, Grant. He is a very happy baby who loves to laugh at/with his sister. He's very vocal and can "army" crawl now. He has 5 teeth and working on another one! At 8 months old, we often wonder "Where has the precious time gone????"

winter fun

Here is our sweet girl, Alexa, outside with her dad. She didn't last long - the temps in northern Iowa are nearly unbearable. All she had to say about her experience outside was "don't eat yellow snow, Mom - that means someone peed there." Smart girl!
